According to demographer Bernard Salt, a person’s level of education will determine where they purchase real estate and reside.

This is primarily because increased education is associated with higher wealth in the long run.

In an editorial for The Australian, Mr Salt said the largest group of people with postgraduate qualifications were found in Australia’s capital cities, equating to 7.2 per cent of the population in those areas combined.

In Canberra though, that figure rises to 13.4 percent and in Sydney it’s 11.4 percent.

Kempsey, Murray Bridge, Esperance, Moe-Newborough and Portland have the lowest representation, with just 1.5 percent or less having a postgraduate qualification.

Tradies account for 32 percent of the Australian workforce, rising to 44 percent in Karratha, Nelson Bay and Morisset-Cooranbong.
