According to the Australian Financial Review, the 26-room luxury hotel, The Albert at Cowels Road, will be built on a heritage site, also known as The Whitehouse or Telopea,  purchased by Emerald City for $5 million last year.

Developer and hotelier Jean-Claude Branch, who also runs lower north shore hotels Glenferrie Lodge, Dalziel Lodge in North Sydney and Cremorne Point Manor, said the lower north shore was notoriously short of good hotel rooms.

Names after his Mosman-based grandfather, Mr Branch said the hotel will aim for a 4.5 star rating.

Mr Branch is aiming for 4.5 stars for the hotel named after his grandfather, a Mosman resident.

Emerald City Hotels, which specialises in overhauling heritage and historic buildings and renovating them into luxury accommodation, plans to restore the current site, resulting in an end value of about $15 million.
