A 260-metre apartment tower will be built on Sydney’s George Street, developed by Mirvac and Coombes Property Group.

Six groups will compete to design the mixed-use project at 505 George Street, which Coombes purchased from Challenger Financial Services in 2009 for $85m.

Once completed, the building could have an end value of more than $1 billion.

Works are set to commence after a series of buildings by Lendlease at Barangaroo South, and others by Chinese groups, including Greenland Holding Group and Shanghai United, which are currently underway, as well as projects by Yuhu and Han’s Group.

The tower, built on a 4308 square metre block, will be one of the tallest residential towers in Sydney, comprising of a retail podium, residential apartments, two childcare centres, a meeting room facility and, possibly a premium hotel.
