Multiplex, a leading global contractor, has reached a milestone on Greengate’s $115 million St Patrick’s Green Aged Care and Retirement Village, topping out the structure to three buildings, the tallest being 11 levels fronting Chapel Street in Kogarah.

The integrated village comprises 105 independent living units and a 92-suite residential aged care home across three buildings set above a two level shared basement car park.

A village green is at the centre of the community surrounded by landscaped gardens and communal activity areas including cafes, lounge and library, hair salon, gym and theatrette, while rehabilitation specific areas support the lives and wellbeing of the village’s residents.

“We are delighted to reach this milestone and help deliver this innovative integrated community. Seniors living and accommodation options are pressing issues in our community with our ageing population and the St Patrick’s Green community will provide a modern blend of essential care with added lifestyle facilities,” said Mr David Ghannoum, Regional Managing Director NSW at Multiplex.

Some 240 workers are currently on-site to deliver the community. Complexities faced in construction include the demolition of Bethany College which formerly occupied the site, the site’s location adjacent to an operational primary school and the ongoing strategic coordination of deliveries.

Greengate director, Howard Smith commented that, “St Patrick’s Green is Greengate’s third integrated community, following the award-winning St Brigid’s Green community in Maroubra and continues our strong relationships with Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney and ANZ Bank.”

Howard noted that, “We are impressed at the efforts of the Multiplex team in delivering a state-of-the-art aged care home within an inviting and high quality retirement community. The completion of the Village is on time and we expect our first residents to be moving in before the end of 2017.”

“We believe that providing seniors in our communities with the highest quality of accommodation and care in one location is important to their wellbeing,” said recently appointed Greengate CEO Chris Rigby. He added that, “I’m excited to begin my journey with Greengate and am looking forward to leading Greengate’s continued growth and expansion.”

Multiplex has extensive experience constructing aged care facilities, recently completing a Mark Moran seniors living project in Vaucluse. It is also currently constructing an over 55’s development in Paddington known as The Terraces.

Multiplex is active in the Kogarah area, with construction advancing on the nearby $277 million St George Hospital at Gray Street.
