Elegant and fashionable, Double Bay has a charm that makes Sydneysiders sit up and take notice. High-end designer stores, a deluge of salons and an emerging dining and bar scene are the pulse of this bayside neighbourhood. Showing us around Double Bay is Head of Lifestyle at Huffington Post Australia, Leigh Campbell, who lives and breathes all things local. around1 How do you kick-start your weekend and where would you typically go for a morning coffee/breakfast? If I am being good I will go to the gym and then we always have breakfast on a Saturday morning. My fave in Double Bay is Little Jean because the food is great, but more importantly, the staff are fun and nice, which isn't all that common in the area. What are local hidden gems in Double Bay? Double Bay About Life isn't a hidden gem but it's a place we frequent because of the huge range of vegetarian, organic food. If it's from About Life, it's healthy! A hidden gem is Soy Noodle Bar on New South Head Road, opposite The Sheaf " it's just a hole-in-the-wall Thai place but they do the best laksa I have had. around3 With summer fast approaching, where will you be shopping for your beach/holiday essentials? I love Pam Pam. It's the best store for swimwear and resort. I have bought a few fun pairs of earrings from there, too. And candles. You can never have too many candles. When looking to find a last-minute outfit, where can you recommend in Double Bay? Scanlan Theodore always has something amazing, but take your credit card. It's also great to have a Witchery down the road for affordable last minute items, and I also love IRO. around4 With your career and background entrenched within the Beauty and Lifestyle industries, where can you (locally) recommend for the best beauty services and treatments to prep yourself for the party season? I get my brows done every second Saturday at Kristin Fisher Eyebrows. My hair grows so quickly and having dark features means being slack on maintenance isn't an option. The salon has such a fun and buzzy vibe, so another reason I go so frequently is to just hang out! Where is your local "Ë?go-to' for date night? For a cheap date night, we go to Sciue Sciue. The Italian food is so incredible but not cheap, though it's BYO which is ace for keeping the bill down. What does a typical Sunday look like for you and how do you spend your weekends when you are staying local? Sunday, we like to be adventurous and go as far as Rose Bay, a 10-minute walk, for breakfast at Sonoma. Wild! If the weather is good we're usually at Red Leaf Pool or Seven Shillings Beach in Point Piper which is a few moments' walk from our house. Or we don't leave the house and have gin and tonics on the balcony. Originally published in Sitchu.
