In a Victorian first, leading Australian property group Mirvac has announced its highly sought after masterplanned community Tullamore in Doncaster will feature a luxury health and lifestyle club valued at an estimated $27 million, with indoor and outdoor pools, four tennis courts, restaurant dining, crà ¨che and spa facilities. In a similar vein to London's famed Chelsea Harbour Club and based on the extravagant David Lloyd Leisure country clubs designed by former British tennis player David Lloyd in the United Kingdom and Europe, Tullamore's club will be the first example of such a lavish facility included as part of a masterplan for a residential development in Victoria. The Next Gen Doncaster Health and Lifestyle Club will be the sixth Australian facility and first Victorian facility by the prestigious Next Gen health and lifestyle group, which launched in 1999 in Adelaide and was founded by the family behind the David Lloyd Leisure clubs in Europe. The proposed club will be set around the former Eastern Golf Course's historic 1850's Tullamore homestead once owned by Melbourne surgeon Sir Thomas Naughton Fitzgerald and will form the grand centrepiece of the development. Mirvac will contribute more than $1 million for the development and restoration of the homestead, to capture its former nineteenth century glory. Once restored, the homestead will be integrated with the club's new facilities, forming part of the members lounge, with views out to the tennis courts and across the lush public open space areas within Tullamore. Mirvac General Manager of Residential Victoria, Elysa Anderson, said the inclusion of the club as part of Tullamore's overarching strategic plan demonstrated Mirvac's commitment to reimagining urban life. "When we began researching the Doncaster Health and Lifestyle Club, we were excited to design a space for Tullamore residents and the wider community that offers a balanced approach to healthy living. At Mirvac, we aim to reimagine urban life for our purchasers and this multi-faceted health and lifestyle club will enrich the lives of its members," she said. The club's overall interior dà ©cor will pay homage to the significant site with touches of nineteenth century sophistication, paying tribute to the architecture of the time. The club also incorporates the latest technology and innovative facility design through its proposed indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and squash courts, fitness centre, personal training and private spa facilities. In addition, a licensed restaurant and cafà © will provide relaxed dining with a healthy menu, cooked fresh daily by a head chef offering breakfast, lunch and dinner options. As well as keeping fit, club members can lounge around the outdoor pool, dine with friends in the restaurant, take their children to crà ¨che, work in the business centre, shop within health and wellbeing retail spaces or catch up with friends in the members' lounge. Next Gen Managing Director, Brett Leahy, said, "At Next Gen, we have been searching for the perfect Victorian site for years. Our biggest challenge has been finding a suitable space that is able to accommodate the sheer breadth of facilities we offer to our members, in addition to finding a location in a naturally lush setting with a rich historical significance. "When Mirvac first raised the idea of a Next Gen facility at Tullamore, we were excited to find that Tullamore by Mirvac ticked all of the boxes required for a Next Gen health and lifestyle club. It is exciting to know the search is finally over so we can bring the Next Gen lifestyle to Victoria in such a coveted living environment," he said. "The design of the new Doncaster Health and Lifestyle Club is progressing well and we can't wait to introduce the residents of Tullamore and the surrounding areas to the Next Gen Health and Lifestyle concept," said Mr Leahy. The members-only club is expected to appeal to professional families who can drop in for a gym workout, personal training session or tennis lesson while their younger kids enjoy the crà ¨che or the many activity programs for older children. While expected to be popular with Tullamore's new residents, membership is open to the broader community. The proposed facility is expected to open sales for membership in spring 2018 and be fully operational by early 2019, subject to the relevant approvals. Tullamore by Mirvac is one of Mirvac's most highly sought-after masterplanned communities, with each sales release oversubscribed by potential purchasers. To date, Mirvac has sold more than 350 homes and land at Tullamore and has recently launched the exclusive Phoenix apartment building as part of the Apartments of Tullamore precinct.
